How lucky were we?! Naomi Tomkys visited us this week at Hauxton with her Zorn palette and got to work on a portrait of a model she knows. The palette was arranged tonally to make it easy for her to capture the precise skin colour on the turning face. She began with the dark areas, explaining that the lights were far too exciting to put down on the canvas early, and she gradually brought a flat surface to life through the course of the evening.
